*WHEN IN DOUBT, RUN THE PUMPS*
Most pool pumps with automated controllers have freeze protection built-in, meaning the pumps will cycle on and off in preset intervals when the air temperature sensor detects freezing conditions. HOWEVER, you should always double-check that the pumps are running when the temperature is 38 degrees or below. If not, turn them on. It is not necessary to heat your pool, as circulating water freezes at a slower rate. Booster pumps that pressurize a pool cleaner can remain off. However, pumps for waterfalls, slides, in-floor cleaning systems, or other features should be on continuously with the main pumps to keep circulation complete.
